International Baseball Development

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Since April 2025 Marcos has trained in recurring blocks at El Niche Baseball Academy in Santo Domingo, returning across three offseasons: April 2025, July through August 2025, and again in July 2026.

The sessions put him in a different baseball culture from the one he trains in at home. Days are long and largely outdoors, the instruction comes from Dominican professional coaches, and the emphasis falls on repetition, footwork, and reading the game rather than on measurement. He works alongside players who grew up in that system, which means the standard around him is set by people with a different set of habits and a different relationship to the sport.

The value is exposure rather than any single skill acquired. He has trained in two environments, adapted to both, and kept coming back. The photographs below are from those sessions.
